Research Interests

Dr. Rajendran has a broad background in pharmacology with a proven track record in cancer chemoprevention, preclinical research, drug discovery & development.  Over 20 years of experience in the area of applied research has led to peer-reviewed publications, IND filings, product patents, and clinical trials.  His long-term goal is to better understand the epigenetic mechanisms involved in cancer in order to help design effective strategies for both prevention and treatment of this dreadful disease.  As a PI, his studies aim to investigate dietary epigenetic modifiers and explore a mechanistic basis for combining dietary phytochemicals with conventional treatment to enhance efficacy and/or reduce toxicity.  His current focus is in the broad area of gastro-intestinal (GI) cancer, and chemoprevention by compounds such as organo sulfur and organo selenium compounds.
