Maintenance

The Maintenance Services section of Physical Plant Facilities Department is responsible for maintenance and repair of building equipment to provide IBT researchers and staff a comfortable functioning building in which to work. We have an extensive preventative maintenance program designed to avoid equipment breakdown.

A Maintenance Mechanic is on call 24-hours a day to respond to emergencies. The Physical Plant administrative offices are open from 7:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. If you need assistance during office hours, please call the office at (713)677-7768. If you have an emergency after hours, please call Security at (713)677-7464.
The following types of corrective maintenance requests may be called in to the Physical Plant office:
  • Water leaks
  • Temperature regulation
  • Lighting/lamp replacement
  • Repair to equipment in common lab areas, i.e., safety cabinets, environmental rooms, autoclaves, washers and equipment that is designated as shared IBT equipment (call Physical Plant office for information regarding this equipment)
All the following types of work must be requested in writing on the:
Maintenance Request Form
  • Electrical Changes
  • Laboratory Equipment Repairs
  • Fabrication
  • Furniture Moves
  • Refrigerator/Freezer repair
  • Major and minor renovations
