Wells Symposium

The R.D. Wells Symposium: DNA Structure, Mutagenesis, and Human Disease was held on April 11, 2008, in Houston at the Institute of Biosciences and Technology.  The event honored the long, successful career of scientist Robert D. Wells, Ph. D. and marked his movement to Emeritus Professor at the IBT.  Dr. Wells was the Founding Director of the IBT.

Magnus Hook, Ph.D., Assistant Director of the IBT, chaired the Symposium Committee and served as master of ceremonies.  The program of the symposium lists the items which took place during the day-long event.

All symposium participants attended a dinner in honor of Dr. Wells, held in the elegant Trevisio Restaurant in the midst of the Texas Medical Center, in which IBT is located.

Dr. Wells concluded the evening by reading a poem he had written in honor of this auspicious occasion.  The poem is entitled "Phase V."
