CCSCB Positions

Dependent on resources and coincident with its mission to carry out research and training, the Center for Cancer and Stem Cell Biology offers research staff positions covering a wide range of specific research themes and technologies and a wide range of personal career objectives.  The CCSCB offers a variety of technical and support positions that range from entry level to skilled professional.  Interested persons in any of these categories should contact Staff Assistant Cindy Lewis, or an individual member of the Center.  For specific positions of all types currently available in the CCBN and IBT, see IBT Employment Opportunities.

Graduate Research and Training

Ph.D. and Masters thesis research and training is available through diverse graduate programs in which faculty of the Institute of Biosciences and Technology (IBT) participate.   These include the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences (GSBS) within the Texas A&M University System Health Science Center, the Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics at Texas A&M University, and  the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences (GSBS) at the University of Texas-Houston. In addition, the CCBN offers opportunity where research can be performed within the CCBN and the degree awarded by a distal university, either domestic or foreign.

Post-Graduate Research and Training

Positions are available in the form of traditional post-doctoral research for graduates wishing to prepare for a future career in academic research and teaching, the biotechnology industry and medically-related professions. Technologies available for participation range from animal physiology and genetics (transgenic), cell culture (primary, cell lines and engineered cell lines), hybridomas and monoclonal antibodies, protein engineering and chemistry, glycobiology, conventional molecular biology, molecular modeling and structure determinations.

Visiting Scientists and Senior Researchers

The CCBN offers a variety of positions that range from clinicians who wish to participate and acquire skills in new areas of basic research, experienced post-doctoral researchers who wish to expand or shift their research discipline and senior researchers who wish to expand into independent research lab group leadership and acquisition of extramural funding while collaborating closely with established research groups.

Entry Level Research Technicians

The CCBN offers entry level technician positions for individuals who need hands-on research experience working in a team in order to become established as a professional technician, or to enhance their experience and background prior to enrollment in an advanced education program for either an MD, Masters or Ph.D. program.
