Faculty Positions

The Institute of Biosciences and Technology (IBT) is a research component of the Texas A&M University System Health Science Center, which encompasses five entities within the State of Texas. IBT occupies an 11-story research tower, built in 1991 in the Texas Medical Center (TMC), Houston, TX. IBT is dedicated to being a leader in biomedical research and biotechnology related to developing novel approaches for the prevention and treatment of human and animal disease. Approximately 20 tenured or tenure-track faculty lead research groups associated with Centers for Genome Research, Extracellular Matrix Biology, Cancer Biology and Nutrition, and Environmental and Genetic Medicine. Through collaborative research and teaching, IBT faculty interact with other units within the TAMU System, and other TMC institutions, including The University of Texas Health Science Center, University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and Baylor College of Medicine.

Tenure-Track
Professor
The Center for Molecular Development and Disease invites applications for the position of tenured Professor. The successful candidate for this position will have an M.D. or Ph.D. degree, hold an academic rank of full professor, demonstrate the ability to generate mouse models through targeting of mouse embryonic stem cells, conduct independent research, administrative experience, and the ability to obtain significant extramural funding. The scientist will conduct research in the area of molecular developmental biology and disease with a strong emphasis on cancer models. As a full professor, the successful candidate will be expected to participate in graduate student education and the continued promotion of scholarly activities, participate in teaching and service activities that foster productive collaborations between IBT faculty and faculties in The Texas A&M University System, The Texas Medical Center and other academic institutions.

Non-tenure Track
Assistant Professor
The Center for Molecular Development and Disease invites applications for the position of non-tenured Assistant Professor. The successful candidate for this position will have an M.D. or Ph.D. degree, demonstrate the ability to conduct independent research as evidenced by supporting publications, and possess the ability to obtain extramural funding. The scientist will conduct research in the area of molecular developmental biology and disease with a strong emphasis on cardiovascular gene regulation, provide administrative and scientific leadership in the biosciences and biotechnologies for synergies in research. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in graduate student education and the continued promotion of scholarly activities, participate in service activities that foster productive collaborations between IBT faculty and faculties in The Texas A&M University System, The Texas Medical Center and other academic institutions.
